Midwives
for the People

We envision a reimagining of midwifery within liberatory models of practice in which families and midwives are rooted in a thriving paradigm of reciprocity, safety and community health.
Through this lens, midwifery will sustainably center the community with a constellation of resources, relationships, and cultural wisdom within a confluence of clinical care and intergenerational knowledge.
Our collective space will honor the legacy of midwifery through ancestral teachings for future generations, serving and honoring our communities in the border region of Kumeyaay land.
Why Monarch Midwives Exists
Our mission is sustainable midwifery practices with a focus of creating new models for abundance and provider wellness, accessible to the community as full scope midwifery care and a supportive perinatal network for families through their reproductive years.
Our mission is to weave ancestral knowledge into all aspects of Monarch Midwives by
reclaiming the community model of care and the rightful place of midwives as the cornerstone of their community.
Our mission is to uplift aspiring midwives in navigating the various midwifery pathways to help them succeed despite systemic inequalities.
Our mission is to provide education, training and resources in perinatal and reproductive health care to increase the overall workforce.
What We Do
Monarch Midwives works to expand access to midwifery through multiple interconnected efforts:
• Certification scholarships supporting student midwives preparing for licensure
• Training initiatives that strengthen pathways for doulas, assistants, and future providers
• Fiscal sponsorship partnerships supporting community-led birthworker programs
• Educational and structural support for community-based reproductive care initiatives
Our focus is not only on supporting individual midwives, but on strengthening the long-term infrastructure of community-based birth care.
Community-Rooted Leadership
Monarch Midwives was founded by licensed midwives, educators, and community birth workers with decades of combined experience serving families in underserved communities.
Our leadership understands firsthand:
-
the realities of midwifery training
-
certification barriers
-
the importance of culturally grounded care
-
the need for sustainable birthworker pathways

Growing Toward the Future
As Monarch Midwives continues to grow, we are working toward expanding our programs to include:
• Trauma-informed pelvic care clinics and provider training
• Spanish-language doula education initiatives
• Business and sustainability support for new midwifery practices
• Educational tools and legal resources for practicing midwives
Each initiative is designed to strengthen access to respectful, community-rooted reproductive care for future generations.
